Wed-nes-day

Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English, from Old English wOdnesdæg (akin to Old Norse Othinsdagr Wednesday); akin to Old English WOden Odin and dæg day: the fourth day of the week

I’m taking a midterm in 2 hours and 59 minutes, but I haven’t studied. I plan to do a quick summary of the material before actually taking the test, but that’s about it. You see, I’m taking this class Pass/Fail. Never done it before, but boy has it been good for my overachieving soul.

There’s some chocolate chip cookie pie at my house and if you come over anytime after 7pm tonight, I’ll give you some. Also, last night’s House MD was especially good–good entertainment and excellent theological inquiry. Sounds like a good time, right?

I gotta go let the cat out (so she’ll stop meowing like someone’s trying to murder her) and drive to Pasadena. Ya’ll have a delightful day, what’s left of it.

Is your midterm on the meaning of the word Wednesday?

Stacie and I are hooked on HOUSE. I had 3 recorded episodes that we watched over the break. His wit and the mystery of all the cases is way more intriguing than ER. I used to enjoy the relationship aspect of ER (which I think at its height was better than the relationships in House) but as of late they’re pathetic. I don’t care about any of the characters relationships in ER anymore.

You’ve really got to watch all the episodes to see what’s been slowly developing between these characters. The relational stuff is definitely not as much of a focus on House–which may be good since there’s the possibility of longevity if your characters don’t love, do, divorce, murder, sue, wrestle, and stab each other all in the first season. The relational interplay has been done slowly, and with an eye to humor. And, interestingly, the characters are all purposefully complex–a mixture of noble and flawed–to varying degrees. House, who is by far the most hate-able character is also my most loved. And on top of it all, the mysteries are good and the writing is SHARP! I’m gonna buy these on DVD just to memorize the one liners and comebacks.

It’s a superb show and there’s plenty of (sarcastic) humor in house… you have to watch them all… I have DIVX/XVIDs of them all if you’re interested.
