Goodbye, Mr. Chips

I may very well have sat in my last class ever today. I’ll be writing papers, doing a distance learning class, and working on my dissertation all summer and beyond, but at least none of that requires driving 25 miles to put my behind in an uncomfortable chair. From now on, all of those activities will be done at home whilst wearing pajamas and listening to Pandora.

Had dinner with two friends from school, one of whom has left the program to move on to things which suit her better. It takes a lot of courage to do the right thing for yourself. Congrats!

There’s no new LOST (Kate and Jack! Ooooh!) tonight, so I’m mostly gonna sit around weeping. And watching The Office (Pam and Jim! Ooooh!) reruns. That could end up being my entire summer actually. If you’ve any better ideas, let me know. And bye the way, does anyone have the first season of House MD (House and…Cutty? Cameron? Blackpoleon?) or 24 (Kiefer Sutherland and Jack Bauer…Ooooh!) on DVD? Or any other show I may not yet have considered watching? I begin to notice a predictable pattern in my usual viewing choices…

I miss LOST too. I’m excited, there are 4 episodes of the Office on tomorrow, and I’m taping them all. I need to get the first season on DVD.

I don’t have any of those shows you listed on DVD. Get a divx capable player and i’m sure myself or Angelo can provide you with the viewing you desire.

I have just about everything I enjoy on TV in DIVX/XVID file format… what that means to you is I can lend you my older DIVX/XVID capable DVD player and you can watch stuff. Let me know.

I have the 24 DVDs if you want them. I can send them down with my parents this weekend who can give them to Amy, who probably knows how to find you.

I will watch anything I am given. I have two DVD players. Is one Digix??? compatible? I don’t know.

Goodbye, Mr. Chips is a book. It was made into a movie sometime in the 1930′s and again more recently (mid 1990′s?) for PBS. Mr. Chips is a teacher at a boys school or university, and he’s their favorite. The movie tells the story of his life–ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies–while students move in and out of his life over the decades. In other words, all my professors lumped into one are kinda a big Mr. Chips, and I’m giving them the boot.

    Mr. Chips… AKA “Frito-Lay”!

The Digix is the type of player that is not picky about DVDs it will play, it will not play straight computer files on a Disc (AKA DIVX / XVID or downloaded files).

I’m going to send the DVD player along with a disc or two (filled with content) with lori to take for the weekend fun trip, it will play these files, and you are welcome to use it after (again I currently have no need for it and may eventually put it on ebay or give it to a homeless person on the street J/K)!

I think I remember seeing Mr Chips the original on AMC or TCM (my grandfather’s two most favorite channels)
