Alas, poor summer, I knew him…
For some reason, summer is inspiring all sorts of Shakespearean allusions. My apologies.
I’d like to take this opportunity to write an elegy of sorts for the official death of summer which occurred today for all my teacher friends. The summer of 2006 was a good summer, a kind summer. It was full of good memories and good times. It touched the lives of many, and will be missed by all. Good bye, sweet summer. May you live forever in our hearts, and may you rest in peace.
On an unrelated note, I just spent $280 on school crap today (registration and transcripts), and I didn’t bat an eye. Last pair of shoes I bought cost $15 and I stood in the aisle at Payless agonizing over the exorbitant cost for at least 10 minutes. What.

I agree summer of 2006 was a very good summer. I hope fall of 06 will have some good times as well. Yet I still mourn the lost of warm summer days spent at the beach.
On the on unrelated note, I did the exact opposite. I had to buy some books for school that cost over 60 bucks and that was not happines for me. But later I walked into DSW and bought 3 pairs of shoes and felt awesome. I believe I felt that way because I enjoy wearing new shoes more than reading text books.

I may have shoe-specific guilt. And it may just be that I’ve spent so much on my education so far, that another $300 is like pocket change. No, even worse. It’s like the useless change you find in the crack of your recliner. It’s all sticky and crumby and no one wants it, so I may as well give it to my education. Blech. Take that, education.

I would like to contest that Summer is actually over. I’ve decided my Summer will never end, so take that. It just happens to be inconvenienced by going to work each day. But I got home today at 4, and Summer was back on baby! It will be interrupted in another 12 hours when I wake up for work, but it will be back on tomorrow afternoon baby!

I love the allusion to Hamlet and it also reminds me of Sonnet 18.

Summer has its time. I love winter and the end of fall when winter peeking around the corner.
