Hockey is a sport for white men. Basketball is a sport for black men. Golf is a sport for white men dressed like black pimps.
The above is a sports-related quote from our own latter day Shakespeare, Tiger Woods.
It’s a four-pieces-of-bacon-and-two-cups-of-coffee kinda morning. Saturdays are nice, but it’s a feat of Olympic proportions for me to get out of bed and moving before 10am. Today, I get the silver.
Jason Parks, I have your video Ipod. If you want it back, you’re gonna have to bribe me.
I got a new bookshelf to relieve the overcrowding which has been occurring for some time. Our upstairs loft is really beginning to look like a library. Non-fiction is arranged by subject, and fiction alphabetically by author–more or less. I’ve been coming upstairs just to enjoy my large collection of orderly books. Let me know if you want to visit my books.
Also (and consider this my final nod to sports), some seasons of some sports are probably starting soon. I know because yesterday in the market I saw a large white man with a moustache who was wearing a pretty authentic Laker’s uniform–jersey and shorts. Maybe he’s Kobe’s warm-up partner. At any rate, it was akin to an experience of seeing the Swallows return to Capistrano, which is the herald of spring. Chubby men in shiny gold shorts? The herald of basketball.

Do you have a heads on pikes section?

No. An anyway, that’s fiction, so it’s by author. Didn’t you read carefully? But I probably should extend my fiction collection, which is almost exclusively mystery novels and classics (primarily British, and some American), to include books about heads being hoisted on pikes. Breadth of reading material is important.

You should also breakdown your fiction by genre like the library does. It just wouldn’t be right to have a heads on pikes book right next to charlotte’s web. Though I have to admit there is no official heads on pikes section at the library.
On a more normal note, I’m looking forward to being back in a daily routine. During the summer I was always doing random stuff and never took time to read. During the school year though we like to go to bed and read for a bit every night, so maybe I can finally knock out some books I’ve been waiting on. Did you read “why do men fall asleep after sex?”? I just finished “Why do men have nipples?”.

I’ve read a great deal of it. Paul’s hypothesis is that all these answers can be solved with the solution “hormones,” but I think he may be oversimplifying. Although hormones sure are important.
