mondays
first, go visit paul’s blog and see his new drawing.
second, it’s monday night and there’s no new Heroes and nothing else is on. which means i really am gonna have to ‘go read a book’ as the proverbial mother always suggests.
third, i’d like to use this forum to encourage mike to blog through his reading of “Sex God,” cuz i wanna hear what its about and i don’t know when i’m gonna read it.
fourth, i purchased the novel ‘the gun seller‘ cuz Hugh Laurie wrote it, and he is as a god to me. (note, at the top of the amazon page, the list of ‘key phrases’ you can enjoy in this novel)
fifth, i may officially quit using upper case laters. but only on mondays.

I despise actors who get publishing deals, yet something made me read the few pages excerpted on amazon. Did I just make up a word? I don’t know. Anyway, now I want to read the book. Most Hollywoodites suck at writing, but this looks interesting and I like the style. I might have to check it out.
BUT, when I become a famous writer I am still going to demand a show on FOX. It’s only fair.

I think the difference with Hugh Laurie is that he has always done a great deal of writing, and is a writer/stage performer instead of merely a movie and TV actor. If you haven’t read any PG Wodehouse, first, I’d recommend it–all 150 odd books/stories–just cuz they’re good, but second because Laurie’s style recalls Wodehouse and that is a very difficult thing to do with any amount of intelligence and originality. Laurie played Wooster of “Jeeves and Wooster” (two of Wodehouse’s characters) in a series on public television in the 90′s, and clearly has an appreciation for good comic writing. The first chapter of “The Gun Seller” was a treat, and I rarely enjoy anything written in the last 50 years or so. I plan to write Mr. Laurie an angry letter demanding more novels immediately.
