Stay Classy, San Diego.

We’re all moved in. Most of the boxes are broken down and most of our junk is put away. Many thanks to Chris Luna, Robert, Sarah, Andrew, Ryan, Dad, Grace and Paul, Lindsay and Jason for helping make this nightmare weekend go as quickly, smoothly and pleasantly as possible.

We grilled outside at the nice patio area last night and met some neighbors. Tony and his family, believe they were Guamanian, were celebrating his birthday with good polynesian music. They gave Paul a Tecate. Francis was down BBQ’g with his dog, Frankie, and is in SD for a doctoral psych/leadership program. All nice human being-type people. We love it here already.

They had St. Patty’s Mint at the GoSpo in La Mesa last night. Yum. Let me know if you want my fantastic recipe for Cajun Pork Rub that came on our package of pork from Vons. And, most of all, let us know when you’ll be in town!

Finally, in honor of Chris Lytle who’s never seen the relevant movie, I love lamp. I mean, stay classy, San Diego.

  2. Christopher Says:

    That’s awesome!

I remember in the movie Ron explains the meaning of the word “San Diego” in German… I believe he described it as a certain part of the female whale’s anatomy. That movie is funny! Chris should watch it.

The movie is “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy” although I am uncertain whether you would enjoy it, Judy.

Here is the recipe, although I used half the cayenne and it was still plenty spicy. I would also recommend using less paprika, maybe half that suggested.

    Pork:
2 to 2.5 lbs. Top Sirloin Pork
    1 T paprika
    2.5 t salt
1 t each onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne
.75 t each white pepper, black pepper, dried thyme, oregano

Mix all ingredients and rub on pork. Grill 5-6 minutes on each side.

. . . so does this mean i don’t get to know what movie it is? it’s ok if that is the case. some things are meant to be known only to a certain few. more fun that way.

  6. Judy Says:

thanks for the recipe and disclaimer on the movie. it was the ‘i love lamp’ that had me curious. but you know what they say about curiosity and the cat.

  7. Trento Says:

Do you just walk around saying “Stay classy, San DiAGo.” Because thats all I would be doing.

  8. MRI Webmaster Says:

I said that to the lady when I checked out at Vons. She just recited it at the same time.

  9. jason in COSPO Says:

Yeah, I reckon I will be trying that recipe out.
ExpressJet flies direct from COS to SAN. Unfortunately we do not have a jumpseat agreement with them yet, but soon. Then I will be in town for a little SanDiego Movie night and GoSpo.

    Stay Classy Wallaces!
