Happy Early Monday

This is a ‘Happy Monday’ blog being broadcast in advance for the benefit of yours truly, cuz I gotta be at work tomorrow at 8am. Now I know what most of you (who are almost universally employed as school teachers or who are students yourself) are thinking–ha HA! I have the summer off! Well, crazy as it sounds, I can’t wait to start waking up at an ungodly hour to start spending some time with people at least as crazy as I am. Did I mention they’ll be paying me? Consider me the conductor and engineer of the Psychology Gravy Train RR.

Thanks to Ray and Judy for a nice visit. We’re off to church this morning. May your Sunday and Monday be blessed and relaxed, and filled with some kind of humorous incident you can later relate to your friends in the form of a witty anecdote.

Wow. We just got home and you have already blogged and are off to church! I’m impressed. Thank YOU for a nice visit. Now we can picture you in your comfy apartment in the nice hilly surroundings of San Diego. I finished (finally) A Severe Mercy, on the ride home and have to say the ending is a satisfying fulfillment of the book and I would reccomend it. I think you would like it. I don’t know that most men would have the patience or emotional endurance to fully appreciate it. But I could be wrong. Can’t wait to hear how your first week goes.

What church did y’all hit up???

  3. MRI Webmaster Says:

Went to Lori and Ryan Morrison’s church–Pathways. Will probably attend a little Kaleo in the near future, or August, since we’ll be in LA for the next 3 weekends.

    Hi, Denise,

I’ve been thinking about you and Paul a lot.

What part of San Diego did you end up in? (I lived there from 1978 to 1990.)

I noticed your recommended reading includes some Emergent Church listings. Have you heard of “Blue Like Jazz,” by Don Miller? Though it’s uneven, in my opinion, it has some wonderful moments. I think Paul would enjoy it, though there’s a sort of post-modern Peter Pan perspective that may or may not float your boat.

May all your Mondays be wonderful!

    Godspeed,

    Lars

Hey Lars! Nice to hear from you. We’ve settled in Mission Valley-Just West of the 15 and North of the 8 in a nice quiet hilly part of town. I’ve never read blue like jazz–i heard similar criticisms, but also that it was worth the read. I created that reading list some time ago whilst in a class on emergent church business and should do some more reading in the area. I’m currently tackling “Mind of the Maker,” by DL Sayers, a theological work by my favorite mystery novelist who is reflecting on the nature of the trinity from the perspective of art/creativity. You might enjoy it actually.

    And thanks for reading.
