Got up early to go enjoy the surf at La Jolla State Park.

It was a gorgeous day and the water was comfortable. Nice easy waves and plenty of good surfing to be had for our two friends who joined us, one of whom was a newbie surfer.

Paul saw a seal earlier in the morning, and shortly after I got in, a pod of dolphins swam by. I paddled out a bit and took a good look. They were 25 feet or so away. I could see the detail in their skin and the jagged edge on the back of their dorsal fins. Good times. As my friend commented, “Is this internship, or vacation?”

We’re enjoying our year long vacation.
