Just for fun.

It was a sparkling morning in San Diego. I entered the east wing of the hospital with a smile, and noticed a chubby latino gentleman ambling down the hall. He was humming, with gusto, a tune that seemed mysteriously familiar. It had a bit of a latin flair, and yet I knew the melody. Slowly, words arose to accompany the tune as he passed me.

“Chiquitita you and I know…how the heartaches come and they go…”

Silly latino, ABBA is for white girls.

I sat in a seminar today during which I had the privilege of experiencing a little time-warpage. We reviewed the structure and function of the visual pathways, material I’ve learned at least four times and still can’t remember. Then I realized: I can’t remember it well anymore because the last time I reviewed this material was in a class four years ago. Ooops. That was when I realized how long I’d been in grad school–long enough to forget things–and consequently how nice it is to be on this side. I don’t have to take any more tests about visual field cuts. Instead, I can review it for fun, and actually enjoy it. Perhaps remember it. Just for fun.

Haha, that ABBA thing killed me.

It was funnier because I know the song.
